Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department:

Yesterday, the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department received complaints of illegal wood cutting in the area of Mill Creek Road. At approximately 2 p.m., HVTP Officers located two subjects in a white Toyota Tacoma leaving the area with a load of wood.

The vehicle was stopped and during the course of the investigation, Officers learned that the persons were not Hoopa Tribal members. A citation was issued, the wood and all equipment was also seized during the investigation.

We would like to remind the community or any non community member(s) that the Hoopa Valley Tribes resources are precious to our Hoopa Valley Tribe, Hoopa Tribal membership and are strictly for the use and taking of Hoopa Tribal members only. If any non Hoopa Tribal members are located within the exterior boundaries of the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation taking resources, the resource and equipment used to take the resource will be confiscated pending a court hearing in Hoopa Tribal Court.
