Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On Oct. 16, 2021, at about 11:20 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 12800 block of State Highway 254 in Myers Flat to investigate a residential burglary.

According to the victim, a female suspect was captured on the victim’s home surveillance system entering the residence multiple times on October 11 while the victim was out of town. The victim reported to deputies that a large amount of cash was missing from the residence upon his return.

In reviewing the surveillance footage, the victim was able to identify the suspect as a cohabitant of the victim’s landlord. The female, identified as 33-year-old Dorothy Lucas, was located and contacted at a nearby residence. Inside the residence, deputies located a speaker which was found to have also been stolen from the victim’s residence.

During their investigation, deputies learned that Lucas had taken a key to the victim’ residence from the landlord without permission and gained unauthorized entrance into the residence to commit the burglary.

Lucas was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of first-degree burglary (PC 459/461(a)).
