Press release from the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:

Since early April the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) has been conducting an investigation into David Elliott (39 years old from Fortuna) and Octobreona Hof (24 years old from Fortuna) for trafficking fentanyl into Humboldt County. Elliott and Hof have been selling fentanyl out of a hotel in the 800 block of Main St. in Fortuna. On Friday April 29th, 2022 HCDTF Agents conducted surveillance on Elliott, Hof and Lacey Jackson (32 years old from Fortuna) as they travelled down to the Tenderloin District in San Francisco to pick up more fentanyl. Agents obtained a search warrant for the involved subjects and their vehicle.

On Sunday May 1st, 2022 at approx. 1:30am HCDTF Agents conducted surveillance of Elliott, Hof, and Jackson as they entered Humboldt County. With the assistance of the Fortuna Police Department agents made a traffic stop on the vehicle on northbound Highway 101 in Rio Dell. All three subjects were detained without incident.

HCDTF Agents conducted a search of the three subjects and located approx. 3 ounces of fentanyl and a small quantity of methamphetamine. All three subjects were placed under arrest. Elliott, Hof, and Jackson were transported to the Humboldt County Jail where they were booked for the following charges:

  • 11351 H&S Possession of fentanyl for sale

  • 11352(b) H&S Transportation of fentanyl across non-contiguous counties

  • 11379(b) H&S Transportation of methamphetamine across non-contiguous counties

  • 182 PC Conspiracy

Agents also located a wallet in the vehicle that belonged to a victim of a previous theft in Fortuna. Agents are conducting a follow up investigation to the stolen property.
