Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to reach Humboldt County tomorrow morning. 

The Eureka National weather service reports that the area will receive an estimated one and a half to three and a half inches of rain on Sunday. Light to moderate rain is also predicted to last throughout today.

A flood watch and wind advisory have been issued for the area.

Rivers and Streams are expected to see significant and rapid rises, possibly causing water over low-lying roadways, urban flooding, flooded fields and roadway debris.

Meteorologist Ryan Aylward said the Eel River is expected to reach flood stage by tomorrow.

A line of hail and thunderstorms narrowly missed Humboldt this morning. The storm shifted north toward Oregon and Del Norte County.

Aylward said more than 500 lightning strikes have been reported off the Oregon coast.

Huge waves will also impact the local coastline. Twenty-three to 28-foot swells are expected throughout the weekend.
