Humboldt’s Tuesday Night Lecture Options

This past weekend, Humboldt State University once again celebrated 100 years of edumacating, something it feels like they’ve been doing a lot lately. But while the parades and fireworks were special, it is perks like Tuesday’s the community should really feel thankful for.

Tonight, HSU’s campus hosts two heavy-hitting authors/thinkers, both offering lectures for no cost to you, the info consumer. Hooray, universities! They be:

  • Paul Ehrlich, 7 p.m., Van Duzer Theatre: Ehrlich is that author of The Population Bomb, an American biologist and educator and the Bing Professor of Population Studies in the department of Biological Sciences at Stanford University. While there is no admission charge, you still gotta castle for tickets (826-3928).
  • Dr. Jorgen Randers, 5 p.m., Kate Buchanan Room: Randers is the author of The Limits of Growth that helped launch 1970’s environmentalism. On Tuesday the world-renowned climate scientist’s topic will be “2052: A Global Forecast for the Next 40 Years.”

Oh, dammit. There’s also karaoke at the airport. This is tough.
