(VIDEO) Sexy Rexy Gets His Hump On, Officially Opens 2014 Humboldt County Fair
All’s fair. For the next 11 days, Humboldtians can get all the livestock, curly fries, Zipper rides, horse racing, sea lions and Guy Fieri they can handle with just a quick jaunt over the bridge to Ferndale. Yes, the 2014 Humboldt County Fair is officially open, y’all.
Thursday morning, LoCO moseyed on over to the Ferndale Fairgrounds for this years opening ceremonies. A flag was raised, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was sang and speeches were given while sheep watched obediently. Bucolic stuff.
The main event though: that time when giant cowboy-hatted Humboldt County supervisor Rex Bohn, as only he could, mounted a camel and rode it from the parking lot and into the fair, his loving constituents trailing behind him. Watch the camel almost buck him during his mount in the video below and/or attempt to navigate that Humboldt County Fair website to figure out what’s happening when. (Seriously, good luck with that.)
Plenty of more options can be found by scrolling your Thursday Lowdown below.
