Bands, Crabs, Westerns = Tuesday (VIDEO)

A more savvy person might maybe write something like “Why stay in on a Tuesday and watch (insert name of Tuesday-airing show) when you could venture out into your community and distract your self around actual people?!” But we don’t know any shows that air on Tuesdays anymore (wasn’t that when Roseanne was on?).

Sorry. So. Here’s some stuff going on in Humboldt Tuesday night that really need no writerly intro ‘cuz there is little connection between them:

  • There are bands aplenty over at Eureka’s last independent record store standing The Works, namely “post-hardcore psychedelic 60’s grunge garage” band The Trashies, as well as fine local rock ’n’ roll revivalists The Lost Luvs. (If you would like to see members of The Trashies wiggle in the mud like worms, please watch the very appropriate YouTube clip above for their song “I’m a Worm.”)
  • There will also be (likely louder) bands aplenty at the latest Placebo show at The Ink Annex. Q: Do you get out to enough Tuesday night thrash metal shows? A: No you do not.
  • Oh, look! A Crabs game! Always fun. You know how they work. We don’t need to get into it.
  • You may have noticed that, every couple of months or so, the Humboldt County Library hosts a series of “Based on the Book” films with a common theme. The latest focus? The Old West! Tuesday night, Friend o’ the LoCO Bob Doran hosts a screening of the Sam Peckinpah-directed Ride the High Country (1962). Check out a trailer below. Also, yeehaw.
