Ice Rink Up! The Resurrected Humboldt Ice Rink Opens Today
UPDATE: Fortuna Ice Skating Photos!
# # #
Everyone loves a good ol’ community working together to overcome adversity story, yes? Sure. That being the case, LoCO is suspicious that the people of Fortuna were all along the evil geniuses behind yesterday’s high winds that knocked over the tent encasing the Humboldt Ice Rink. Gotta be staged, right?
Because, wouldn’t you know it, the citizens of the Friendly City rallied together to ensure that the tent, like a frozen phoenix, was resurrected so that we may all indulge in the joy of skating. Ah. What better way to raise awareness of the fact that Humboldt’s only ice skating venue will open at 10 a.m. today. Savvy, Fortuna!
The photo above comes to us courtesy Elyzabeth Couch who reports that the tent rescue was a team effort which included folks from Humboldt Fence Company, Bear River Casino, Windy Point Fence Company among oodles of other cool as ice volunteers.
“What a day of proud, wet, hard work!” Couch wrote on LoCO’s Facebook wall.
So skate it up, Humboldt. Again, the Humboldt Ice Rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and will be open at various numerous days between now and January 17. Full schedule here.
