Candidate Statement

From Renee Contreras De Loach/Sept. 6, 2022, 2:30 p.m.

Hi, my name is Renée Contreras DeLoach, I am running for Eureka 5th Ward.

If elected, I commit to making sure I am not only accessible but also respectful of you and your opinions.

I was born and raised in Eureka and returned here in 2008 with my husband to raise our children close to family. I have a professional background in auditing and debt and liability consulting. I have dedicated my time to my communities through both donating services and as an elected official. I have provided free consulting and marketing plans for small businesses, free literacy tutoring for adults and children, and led multiple youth programs.

While living out of state, I was elected to serve an area much like Ward 5 in Eureka. I worked hard with community members to amplify their voice, supported small business development and fought for safe affordable housing. I worked to secure funding for low/mid income community projects such as playgrounds, crisis centers for women and children, and the development of the first Latin adjunct facility, Centro Hispano, for the local University.

My agenda will be your agenda. The many people I have spoken with in Ward 5 have expressed the same concerns: crime and public safety, affordable housing, and the struggling downtown business district. If you elect me, I will make your focus my focus and work hard to ensure we succeed.

Renée
