Central Labor Council Endorses Latour

Humboldt County needs Sharon Latour as a county supervisor to represent the 5th District, according to a large coalition of labor groups that has endorsed her candidacy.

Sharon Latour understands and sympathizes with many of the issues that working families have in Humboldt County,” said Mark Greenleaf, who is president of the Central Labor Council of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.

When Labor Council members met with the candidates, they especially liked the way that Latour is asking “appropriate and really piercing questions” about how to build prosperity for everyone in Humboldt, he said.

“We were impressed by her knowledge and willingness to listen and to learn,” Greenleaf said. “People who vote for Sharon Latour are going to get someone who will represent everyone, and especially the working families of Humboldt County.”

Latour has also been endorsed by the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee. Her candidacy, with its trademark hand-painted campaign signs, has captured the public imagination, becoming a symbol for the ways that an ordinary person without deep pockets can still make a big difference in Humboldt County.

Voters can learn more about her policies and platforms on her website, www.sharonforsupervisor.com.

“I’m very happy to have the Labor Council’s endorsement, and so grateful for everyone who is volunteering to make this grassroots campaign a success, despite expectations we might be outspent by 4-to-1 or more,” Latour said. “What’s really important is that people get informed and vote! If you haven’t registered yet, you have until May 19, and can register through my website, at www.sharonforsupervisor.com.”
