Scott Bauer, candidate for Eureka City Council from the city’s 4th Ward, announced endorsements from several elected officials who have represented the people of Eureka at the federal, state, and local levels.

Supporters include Congressman Mike Thompson, former State Legislators Senator Wesley Chesbro and Assembly Member Patty Berg, former Humboldt County Supervisor Bonnie Neely, and former Eureka Mayor Peter LaVallee.

“As I’ve walked door-to-door and met and talked to so many Fourth Ward residents, I am incredibly humbled by the support I’ve received. The endorsements by former officials who have represented our community at every level also means a great deal to me. Their confidence in my ability testifies to the work I’ve done over the past 20 years, and the work I will do in the future on behalf of Eureka families,” said Bauer.

“I’ve known Scott and his wife Gina for many years. Scott has fought to protect North Coast rivers and streams, for workplace safety, and a healthy community for Eureka families. He has the values, grit, integrity, and skills to make a real difference for the people of Eureka and has my wholehearted support,” said Congressman Mike Thompson, who represented the North Coast from 1993-2012.

Humboldt County resident and former county supervisor and State Senator Wesley Chesbro who served in the California Legislature for twelve years said, “I worked with Scott and I know he is a deeply committed and very effective advocate for his community. I am confident that whether he is working to fix Eureka’s streets or address the issue of homelessness, he will bring dedication and pragmatism to the challenge.”

“Scott listens to people. He understands the day-to-day concerns of Eureka families, and he will be a great representative for all of us who call this community our home,” said former Assemblywoman Patty Berg, who served from 2002 to 2008.

Former six-term Humboldt County Supervisor and former California Coastal Commissioner Bonnie Neely said, “Scott Bauer will be a champion for Eureka’s small businesses, workers, and families. I am proud to add my voice to those of the many Ward 4 residents, business and community leaders, and families that are supporting Scott for City Council.”

Former Eureka Mayor Peter LaVallee said, “Scott will work effectively with other council members to address the real concerns of Eureka residents. Whether it’s the upcoming budget challenges due to COVID-19 or reconciling competing viewpoints, Scott has the tenacity and experience to work with the whole community to find creative solutions.”

Bauer said, “These are tough times for Eureka families and local businesses, but it’s not the first time Eureka has faced big challenges. I know that we can work together to address the real problems we face and build a safer, healthier, and more prosperous future.”
