Rural landowner, non grower. Which way should I vote?

I’m tired of all the greenhouse complexes and, now, with the market crashing, greenhouse skeletons all over the landscape. I’m tired of the big grows. I’m pro-pot, but go grow in the Central Valley where there is a water infrastructure in place. What will this do for me as a non-grower?

Fellow rural landowner, my advice is vote YES on Measure A because we can have water and weed too.

Measure A will stop the continued proliferation of greenhouses, soil and water trucks tearing up the roads.  What Measure A will do for non-growers is to prevent 2000 additional cultivation sites and keep the ones we have from expanding. It will slow the depletion of our aquifers.  It will mean that property owners within a mile radius will be notified of new or expanding grows sites.

It will also help protect our water and soil from being loaded with fertilizers, pesticides, and sediment runoff.  Wildlife is being poisoned and their forest homes fragmented. Do we need 2000 more? The damage done to forests and streams is very much like what we called out the timber companies for doing.

Rather then wishing they would move to the valley, we prefer to support the 10,000 sq. ft. cultivation sites, roots in the ground and under the sun. Many of these farms are actually farms rather than industrial sites.  They have supported our local economy for 40 years.  The Humboldt name used to mean quality and we would like to see a return to this reputation and build on it.  We do not need larger, industrial-like grows. 1200 licensed cultivation sites is enough!

VOTE YES ON MEASURE A
