1. Did you support Trump in the 2020 election?

2. Do you support the 1/6 committee?

3. Do you support or advocate for ‘alternate electors’?

(1) As the only candidate serving as a Humboldt County Elections Official, I believe it is important to preface my answer by acknowledging that the Clerk, Recorder & Registrar of Voters is a nonpartisan official. If elected as your next Registrar, I will make sure that our office provides top-notch services to all candidates, regardless of party affiliation. Politics are for candidates, not for elections officials.

Of course, I am also a candidate at the moment, which makes my personal political beliefs a subject of public scrutiny. To answer your question, I did not support or vote for Donald Trump.

(2) The violent assault on the United States Capitol was an attempt to suppress the whole of our democracy. Those who attempted to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power, bringing about death and injury, should clearly be held accountable. The factors that either directly or indirectly contributed to the January 6th attack, including online platforms and foreign interference in our elections campaigns, should be fully understood and made public. The government processes that failed to prevent the attack should be scrutinized.

Given the scope of January 6th, I believe that a congressional committee is the appropriate venue for conducting an investigation into an attack on the United States.

(3) The concept of “alternate electors” runs contrary to the spirit of your Elections Office, where the elections staff works tirelessly to make sure that elections are conducted fairly, securely, and in compliance with the elections laws that we are bound to uphold. I am deeply committed to the democratic process of selecting local, state, and federal leaders. This is made evident not only by my decision to work under our current Registrar but by the fact that I had previously served for roughly 20-years as a poll worker.

Efforts to defraud voters of their voice should not be supported or advocated for by anyone.
