Abortion rights

Would you, as a supervisor, support the County of Humboldt sending letters to state legislators in support of federal abortion rights so that no one in this country is prosecuted for having an abortion or stillbirth? Would you support and protect abortion rights within the community? Thank you for asking this question of me and of all the candidates.

Yes, I would absolutely support the County sending a letter to state and federal legislators in support of federal abortion rights and a woman’s right to safe and legal abortions. I will continue to do all I can to support and protect a woman’s right to control her own body. A woman’s decision about reproduction is between her and her doctor, not the government.

I agree that the seemingly likely overturn of Roe vs Wade is a watershed moment for our country. Since Roe provides the basis for other rights, overturning it will encourage those who would cut access to contraception, limit or ban marriage equality and interracial marriage.

I always have, and always will, stand for a woman’s right to control her own body, including the right to safe and legal abortions.
