Term Limits

With Los Angeles County voters, and San Benito County voters limiting supervisors to only 3 consecutive terms, not to mention Orange County and San Francisco limiting it to 2 terms, why should voters give you a 4th term?

Hey Voter,

Great question about me going for a fourth term.  Here’s the deal:  while some counties impose term limits, let’s not forget the value of experience in the policymaking game.

Our democracy thrives on letting you pick your representatives.  Term limits can restrict this choice by barring candidates, thus limiting the democratic process.  Serving as a County Supervisor is a profession, and experience is paramount.  Over the last twelve years, I’ve learned to navigate both county and state laws, precedents, and procedures, amassing a wealth of institutional knowledge.

In any job, we value the skills of seasoned folks.  Booting qualified Supervisors without considering their effectiveness and abilities?  No, let’s use that experience for the good of the people.

My track record shows I’m all in for this community.  I’m Vice Chair of the National Association of Counties Rural Action Caucus, repping the West Coast in a sea of 3,140 counties.  Eleven years with the Rural County Representatives of California?  That’s me - fighting for our unique rural needs in Sacramento.

So, for this fourth term, it’s about valuing experience and proven leadership.  Term limits?  They have their merits, but think about what a seasoned representatives bring to the table.

Merry Christmas to you and your families!

Rex Bohn, 1st District Supervisor
