Traveling Vietnam War Memorial Will Be Escorted Through Eureka By Numerous Bikers This Afternoon

Scroll your Lowdown below for Tuesday night’s limited out-and-about options, but there is a spectacle you might notice this afternoon that LoCO thought you might like to know about.

From Thursday to Sunday, “The Wall that Heals” — a traveling half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall — will be on display at the Bear River Community Center in Loleta displaying the names of 58 Humboldt County residents, among thousands of others, who perished as a result of the United States’ war in Vietnam. There will be an opening ceremony Thursday at 10 a.m.

After leaving Redding this morning, the wall will cross the border into Humboldt today on a truck escorted by an estimated one hundred motorcycle riders. The procession is expected to roll through Eureka between 2 and 3 p.m. today.
