Humboldt County Public Records Act Request for Email Correspondence, May 2011
In April 2011, the Lost Coast Outpost filed a large Public Records Act request seeking a year’s worth of email correspondence between public officials and eight members of the public active in the long-drawn-out and politically volatile Humboldt County General Plan Update.
A couple of weeks later, we received from the county a CD-ROM containing 374 PDF documents representing the email exchanges we had requested. They ranged from dull to frivolous to enlightening. Among them were several volatile letters to certain elected officials from Eureka businessman Rob Arkley, notice of a high-powered book club comprised of many political players and an allegation that a sitting supervisor had flipped someone off on the most recent election night.
Lost Coast Outpost readers have been going through the documents and unearthing their own gems.
