News Release:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, assisted byCampaign Against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.), United StatesForest Service and Bureau of Land Management personnel has continued conducting marijuana eradication in Humboldt County during August 9-13, 2010. The primary focus of theeradication efforts has been large illegal outdoor open field marijuana grows on public lands and timber company property.

Marijuana plants were seized from the following areas during the last week:

Monday 8-9-2010

20,124 marijuana plants were eradicated in the Redwood Valley area near Lord Ellis from two garden sites. The plants were seized from private timber company property.

Tuesday, 8-10-2010

7,541 Marijuana plants were seized from multiple growing sites in the Panther Gap/ Honey Dew area. The plants were seized from Bureau of Land Management and State Parks Property.

Wednesday, 8-11-2010

30,074 Marijuana Plants were seized from multiple garden sites off the Go Road, on United States Forest Service Property, Orleans area.

Thursday, 08-12-2010

6,482 Marijuana Plants were seized from the Garberville, Briceland, Whitethorn areas,primarily on Timber Company and Bureau of Land Management Property.

Investigations into the growing operations are continuing. The public is reminded to be cautious when hiking in  outdoor recreational areas, and to immediately leave the area if they come across a marijuana growing operation and notify law enforcement.

138,746 marijuana plants have been seized in Humboldt County so far this calendar year.
