– Couple of notes on the epic (and EPIC) battle against the Richardson Grove Improvement Project. Most visibly, there was another protest at Caltrans HQ in Eureka today; the North Coast Journal has the colorful photos. The Humboldt Herald posted some pre-rally puppetry video, which won’t trigger your gag reflexes at all.

More to the point, though, the Environmental Protection Information Center appears to have won a stipulation from Caltrans that no work on the project will go out to bid before July 1. This move happens while the EPIC’s lawsuit against Caltrans over the project proceeds.

– That was a pretty big-ass drug bust in Redway last week – weed (of course), guns, ecstasy, coke, heroin, LSD and two-and-a-half ounces of meth. Good times, good times.

But you want to know what’s really crazy? The San Diego Union-Tribune has more on that SoHum dude that was busted as an auxiliary to a suspected weed-slash-college basketball game rigging ring last week. What a story!

The moral: If you’re driving across the Tijuana border with over $100,000 in cash, don’t take your personal baggie of stash along for the ride.
