Humboldt County Sheriff Press Release:

On 08-12-2011 at about 1105 hours a bank robbery occurred at the Coast Central Bank located inside of the Ray’s Food Place grocery store on Central Avenue, McKinleyville. The white male suspect entered the grocery store and walked over to the bank, which is located in the front of the store behind the check out stands. The male suspect displayed a black, semi automatic handgun at the bank teller and demanded cash. The bank teller then gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the store on foot.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies immediately responded to the scene along with CHP Officers. The area was checked for the suspect with negative results. No vehicles associated

with the suspect were scene by any witnesses.

The suspect is described as a white, male, adult, approximately 6 foot in height, approximately 30-40 years of age with a medium build. Suspect was last seen wearing black clothing. The

suspect was wearing a baseball hat that had a logo of “ Old Fart”. The suspect had a white dust mask covering his mouth and nose.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detective and the local FBI responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The front counter at the bank was fingerprinted for any possible fingerprints left by the suspect.

UPDATE: investigation. The F.B.I. Agent informed Sheriff’s Detectives that the suspect in this case may also be involved in two other bank robberies, one in Grants Pass, Oregon on July 5th, 2011, and one in Smith River on July 8th, 2011. The F.B.I. and Sheriffs Office are working together on this investigation.
