The whale situation on the Klamath River turns ever more dire by the day. Now scientists are blasting recordings of orca sounds at the momma whale still lollygagging in the river, reports yourcaliforniashow.com. (This Web site is new to us, but it’s going in the RSS reader now).

Reminder: FRONTLINE does the Emerald Triangle tonight. Maybe before you go in you’ll want to read this roundup from the Orland Press-Register on the big multi-agency bust that’s been ongoing in the Mendo National Forest for the last couple of weeks.

Officials from the state Department of Justice have been tight-lipped on what, exactly, is going on with these raids, but as the Press-Register notes there’s going to be a big press conference on the thing Friday. So far: 77 people arrested.
