From the Sheriff’s Office:
“The search continues for the missing Humboldt State University student, Jian Kang, 21 years old, from the City of Renqiu, Hebei Province China. Kang was swept away by the Trinity River at Tish Tang Campground, Hoopa, Sunday afternoon 06-19-2011 around 4:30 p.m. in front of his friends, after slipping while wading into the river.
“Humboldt County Search and Rescue team members utilizing a watercraft, along with Hoopa Valley Tribal Police continue to check the Trinity River from Tish Tang campground down stream. Aircraft from the California Highway Patrol, and United States Coast Guard Humboldt Bay Air Station is assisting in the search.
“The Chinese Embassy in San Francisico contacted the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office on 6-22-2011. The Embassy is assisting Kang’s family members with travel arrangements to Humboldt County.”
