– Our friends at the Two Rivers Tribune have published a truly incredible story this week: An interview with Jason “J-Bird” Hunsucker, who is currently wanted for homicide and on the run from the law. Hunsucker is the last suspect in the May killing of Willow Creek resident Darrel Hanger Sr. who has yet to be picked up.
In the Two Rivers Tribune piece – titled “Man on the Run” – Hunsucker gives his version of the burglary attempt that ended with guns drawn and Hanger dead. He talks about being shot during the commission of his crime and about living on the lam. He vows never to turn himself in.
“I’ve been a criminal all my life,” he tells the TRT. “I’m like Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde when I’m sober and when I’m not. There’s no excuse for what I’ve done in the past. I don’t know…I guess it’s something I’ve grown up doing.”
In a companion editorial, the paper defends its decision to run the story and calls on Hunsucker to surrender himself to the police.
