From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 09-17-2011, approximately 12:30 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Bear River Casino in regards to a stabbing that just occurred. Deputies were notified enroute that casino security was standing by with the victim.

When deputies arrived they met with the 52 year old male victim and Casino Security. The victim had an approximate 4-5 inch slice wound across his neck. The victim told the deputies his step-son, Sean O’Loughlin, 27 years old, of Fortuna had stabbed him in the neck when he was in the men’s restroom in the Casino. O’Loughlin had fled the area prior to the deputy’s arrival. They checked the area and his Fortuna residence and were unable to locate him.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

On 09-17-2011, 11:40 a.m. O’Loughlin turned himself in to the Sheriffs Office in Eureka. He was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody. His bail is set at $50,000.00.
