A resident of Shelter Cove is reporting that Humboldt Co. Deputies are searching for Aaron Bassler, suspect in the homicides of two well-known Mendocino men, Matthew Coleman and Jere Melo. Bassler has reportedly been seen in the Chemise Mt. area between Whitethorn and Shelter Cove.

The Times Standard is reporting:

Mendocino Sheriff’s Capt. Kurt Smallcomb said deputies are conducting some follow up investigations in Southern Humboldt, but there is no confirmation that shooting suspect Aaron Bassler may have been in Humboldt.

“We don’t know that for sure,” Smallcomb said Friday, adding that they are continuing to actively search for Bassler in Mendocino County.

The interviews were conducted in areas around Whitethorn and Shelter Cove.
