Maple Creek Elementary is on lockdown right now. According to Jessica Windbigler, secretary, the school went into lockdown mode after receiving word from the Sheriff’s Office that a gunman was loose in the neighborhood.

“We have the children in a locked facility, and at this point they are safest here,” Windbigler said when asked if she had any message for parents. (h/t @KIEMNews.)

UPDATE 11:07 a.m.: Scanner traffic indicates that the school is now out of lockdown.
