FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On 04-23-2012, approximately 1:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a citizen that man just tried to give her Vicodin near a business in the 700 Block of Redwood Drive, Garberville. Two deputies were dispatched to the area to look for the suspect. The victim told the deputies the suspect approached her, opened a pill bottle and offered her Vicodin. When she declined the suspect walked away and began urinating in the public hallway in front of several area businesses and made verbal threats directed towards the victim.

Deputies began searching the area for the suspect and located him pounding on the door of a nearby residence in the 700 block of Redwood Drive. As the deputy began to approach the suspect the door opened and the suspect entered the residence, closing the door as the deputy approached. When the deputy knocked on the door of the residence it was opened by a teenage male who told him he had no idea who the suspect was and when he opened the door the suspect just walked inside. The deputy located the male in the living room of the residence yelling and shouting. He was taken into custody. An adult female who also lived at the residence stated she too did not know the suspect or why he entered their home other than to escape the deputy.

The suspect was identified as Robert Scott Cree, 56 years old from Garberville, California. Deputies located Vicodin, and another prescription drug in his possession. He was arrested for sales or offering of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a prescribed drug without a prescription and public intoxication. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $50,000.00
