From the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:

On 12-27-2012 at about 0830 hours the Humboldt County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a residence located in the 1100 block of Angel Heights Drive, Fortuna. Humboldt County Drug Task Force was assisted by the Fortuna Police Department and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in the service of the search warrant.

Officers detained a subject, who lived at the residence and was identified as Zachary Michael Anaya age 24. When officers searched the residence they located 5 individual, one- pound bags of processed marijuana bud. Officers located evidence of an indoor marijuana growing operation in the attached garage that had been recently harvested. Officers located information in the residence that Anaya was on the PG&E care program for his electrical bill.

Officers during the search located Ecstasy and Steroids and a loaded handgun in the residence. Officers located $4,600 dollars in cash that was seized for possible asset foretfetuire. Anaya was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales, being armed in commission of a felony, possession of Ecstasy and Steroids and for maintaining a residence for the distribution of a controlled substance. Anaya was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka. Erickson’s Anaya’s bail was set at $ 125,000 dollars.

While at the residence officers noticed a possible electrical fire hazard associated with the indoor marijuana growing operation in the garage. Officers then contacted the Building and Planning Department for the City of Fortuna, who responded to the scene. After the Building and Planning Department inspected the electrical wiring associated with the marijuana grow room they determined that there was a fire hazard. PG&E was then contacted to have the electrical service shut off to the residence.

This case is still under investigation by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.
