Humboldt CO. Sheriff’s Press Release:

 

On 07-10-2012, approximately 8:00 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a 33 year old male Shelter Cove resident who reported he had been assaulted with a baseball bat. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene along with the Sheriffs Office.

 

The victim told the investigating deputy he had been in a recent dispute with the suspect who he identified as Ryan Anthony Tanner, 22 years old from Briceland. The victim told the deputy he was riding his motorcycle on Briceland Road, near the Whitethorn Junction when a white pickup truck driven by Tanner rammed him from behind. The victim lost control of his motorcycle and he crashed. Tanner stopped the truck, exited the truck and began striking the victim in the head and chest an estimated 10-12 times with a baseball bat. The victim was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the assault. Tanner then drove off leaving the victim in the roadway. The victim drove to a local store and called 911. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for head and neck injuries.

 

On 07-11-2012, approximately 10:30 am Ryan Tanner surrendered to the Sheriffs Office at the Garberville Station, where he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. His bail is set at $50,000.00.
