From the California Highway Patrol, which elsewhere identifies the victim as being from Cedar City, Utah:

On July 29, 2012 at approximately 1901 hours, on Thomas Road south of Salmon Creek Road, a 2002 Ford F-150 traveling southbound, for unknown reasons left the roadway west of the roadway edge.  The vehicle went down the embankment and struck several trees.

The driver (solo occupant) sustained fatal injuries.  Release on the identification of the driver is pending confirmation and notification to the next of kin.
