Humboldt County Sheriff’s Press Release:
On 06-14-2012, approximately 2:40 a.m. a family was asleep in their residence on Barscape Lane, Eureka when they were awakened by their dog barking and noises from their kitchen. The wife walked out of their bedroom and down to the kitchen to see what was going on. When she did she saw a male standing at her kitchen counter. The suspect immediately ran out the back door of the residence and into the driveway. The suspect got into the couples Ford F-350 truck and started it up then drove away with their truck. While driving off the suspect ran over a cement retaining wall and landscaping in their yard. They described the suspect as a white male adult, late teen to early twenties, approximately five feet, nine inches tall, with brown hair, wearing a red flannel shirt and jeans. The victim’s truck also had about $500.00 worth items which they had just bought at Kohl’s Department store that day. The victim’s purse, credit and bank cards were also stolen.
On 06-14-2012, approximately 12:45 p.m. an off duty Eureka Police officer saw the stolen pickup truck parked along Highway 101, facing northbound, just south of Herrick Avenue off ramp. The officer saw a male walking away from the vehicle. He notified Eureka Police dispatch and the Sheriff’s office dispatch was notified. He watched the suspect as long as possible, and described the suspect as
wearing a San Francisco giants cap or similar ball cap, dark colored plaid shirt , blue jeans and dark
shoes. The description matched that of the suspect who had burglarized the Barscape Lane residence. As Sheriff’s patrol cars approached the area the suspect fled on foot. Deputies and Eureka Police searched the area with no success for the suspect.
