From the Eureka Police Department:
On 06-24-12, the Eureka Police Department was notified of a vandalism that had occurred at the Eureka City Schools Corporation Yard, located in the 600 block of W. 14th Street. The investigation revealed that sometime between 06-23-12 and 06-24-12 at approximately 0830 hrs, unknown suspects damaged all 15 of the school buses stored at this location.
The damage to the buses consisted of the windows being smashed or broken out and the interiors of the buses being covered in white powder. The white powder was the result of the suspect(s) discharging the fire extinguishers, which were located inside the buses.
All 15 buses will have to be repaired, cleaned, and then inspected by the California Highway Patrol before they can be placed back in service. It is estimated that the suspect(s) caused more than $10,000 in damage to the buses. An actual amount of loss and damage won’t be available for sometime.
