Standoff in Arcata at Heather and Foster: Law enforcement take suspect into custody.
UPDATE 7:42 P.M.: KIEM is reporting on Facebook,
Arcata Police say this situation started around 5pm on Friday. A maintenance worker says he went to the home, knocked on the door, and the resident inside the home pulled a gun on him. The maintenance worker says he ran and called Police. When Police arrived they say they made contact with the man inside the home. That man told law enforcement he was armed and was not coming out of the home. The department of mental health is also on the scene.
UPDATE 7:30 P.M.: The Arcata Eye is reporting on Facebook,
A female has exited the apartment above the one in which the man is barricaded. Police are preparing for a lengthy siege, and have called for raincoats. They’ve been in position since 3 p.m. or so.2152 Heather Lane.
UPDATE 6:00 P.M.:KIEM is reporting,
Law enforcement is asking residents in the area of Foster & Heather to stay inside their homes. Police are also asking the public not to come near the area at this time.

Stand off in Arcata at Foster and Heather. APD trying to talk a man out of an apartment there who reportedly threatened a maintenance man.

There is currently a police standoff with an armed suspect on Heather Lane in Arcata. Police said the issue involved guns, but refused to comment further. Photos/video to come.
