Friends of the Arcata Marsh have put together a leashless guide for north coast dog walkers.
Covering from Trinidad to Shelter Cove, the brochure details what kind of restrictions may be in place and what wildlife you might encounter along the path.
Why stress about off-leash dogs? According to the Times-Standard:
“FOAM’s interest in the project came about due to ongoing problems with off-leash dogs at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary.”
Hopefully, by providing some off-leash alternatives, FOAM can help reduce the impact of loose dogs on sensitive habitat.
Hard copies of the brochure are available at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, some pet stores, and at Arcata City Hall.
