Lone Maple (taken this morning)
We’re being drawn into the dark of winter with a rush. Tonight, we turn back our clocks one hour. To put that in real world terms, tonight the sun will set a little after 6 P.M. and tomorrow night (shudder) a little after 5. Today, the sun rose at a little before 8 A.M. Tomorrow, at a little before 7. That means if you normally go to bed at 11 and get up at 6, then when you go to bed at 11 tonight and set your clock back to 10 P.M., your alarm clock will still show 6 A.M. when it goes off but you will be getting up at what would have been 7 A.M the day before.
One extra hour of sleep now and an earlier sunrise offset against dark falling mere hours after school gets out…
