The driver of the Toyota has been identified as …Heather Anne Parker of Hydesville, California and the driver of the Ford, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, has been identified as 70 year old Robert Leroy Crosby of Fairfield, California.

On November 8, 2012, at 1:25 pm, a 2003 white Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on US-101, south of Leggett, California in northern Mendocino County as a 2004 grey Ford Taurus was traveling northbound on US-101 approaching the Toyota’s location. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota crossed over the asphalt center divider and into the northbound lanes of US-101, directly into the Ford’s path of travel. The Toyota subsequently collided head-on with the Ford, where both vehicles came to rest within the northbound lanes of US-101. The female adult driver of the Toyota, whose identity is pending positive identification, was taken by ground ambulance to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits with moderate injuries. The male adult driver of the Ford, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Ford, Karen Crosby of Fairfield, California was taken by ground ambulance to Jerold Phelps Hospital in Garberville with moderate injuries.
DUI does not appear to be a factor in this collision. The California Highway Patrol Garberville Area office is investigating this collision.
The CHP site is reporting a serious accident on the Hwy 101 off ramp into Leggett. An ambulance has been called. One party is unconscious. The situation is being reported as a traffic hazard. Follow updates here.
