Fortuna Police Dept. Press Release:

On October 28, 2012, Officers responded to Ambrosini School (Rohner Street) in Fortuna for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, Officers and staff determined that someone forced entry into several classrooms by breaking windows. After making entry into the classrooms, the suspect(s) stole several thousand dollars worth of school equipment, including several laptop computers.

Officers and school staff worked for hours processing evidence, including reviewing video surveillance, collecting finger prints, and DNA evidence from the school.

“It is appalling that someone would break into a school and steal equipment that is used to educate our children” said Sergeant Charles Ellebrecht. “Schools across the state already have to deal with tight budgets and then when education equipment is stolen, our children are the real victims left to suffer”.

The department is asking that anyone with information contact the department’s WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00 if their information leads to an arrest and conviction.
