There was a whole lot of wild talk on the LoCO last week in the wake of the fatal Northern Mendo car crash that took the lives of two Bay Area men. Commenters threw in what seemed — to my eyes, anyway — trollish speculation about what the men were up to in their trip to Humboldt County. I deleted a few comments.
Well, I guess I owe someone an apology. From the California Highway Patrol, Southern Humboldt Office:
Seized from the 2001 Infinity were three loaded handguns, two of which were stolen; two bullet proof vests, several M80’s (illegal explosive devices), an ASP expandable baton, duct tape, a ski mask and a printed Google Map with directions from Valejo to Shelter Cove. CHP suspects that the occupants of the vehicle were en-route to Shelter Cove (unknown address) to perform a home invasion and/or marijuana rip-off. The driver survived the collision and was booked into Mendocino County Jail. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information should contact the California Highway Patrol, Garberville Area Office.
The mugshot of the surviving suspect, Domonic Troy Quilici, is below. Kym notes that he was the MVP of his high school baseball team.
