From the Arcata Police Department:

Shortly after 3:00 pm on 4.25.2013, the Arcata Police Department received a call from a woman who had just been the victim of a home invasion robbery. The victim was asleep in her 10th Street apartment when a Hispanic male adult forced his way into the apartment and pointed a handgun at her. The suspect  was described as approximately 5’- 5”, with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a dark colored hoody sweatshirt and a long pair of dark colored shorts that hung well below his knee. 

The suspect demanded to know where “Charlie” was. The victim, who did not know any person named Charlie, told the Hispanic male suspect that Charlie did not live there and that she did not know who Charlie was.

Hearing this, the suspect began rummaging through the victim’s belongings. After grabbing the victim’s purse, wallet and cell phone, the suspect started toward the front door. He eventually tossed the victim’s phone back to her before fleeing the scene.

The victim chased the suspect through the Angels of Hope parking lot. An employee from Angels of Hope joined the foot pursuit but they eventually lost sight of the suspect when he fled into a nearby ravine.

A few blocks away, a person matching the suspect’s description was seen jumping into the backseat of a late model silver sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle then fled the scene. There is no description of the driver. The suspect and the suspect vehicle are still outstanding.

Some of the stolen property was recovered when the suspect discarded it while he was fleeing.

The victim was not physically injured.
