Press Release:

Registration is now open for both 2013 summer sessions of North Star Quest Camp for Girls, located at Camp Mattole in Petrolia. The first session will be held Sunday, July 28 through Thursday, Aug. 1, and the second session will run Sunday, Aug. 4 through Thursday, Aug. 8. North Star Quest Camp is a five day overnight camp for girls going into 6th through 8th grades next fall, and is staffed by all women. Camp themes include: Who are you inside? Who are you in your community? Who are you in the world?

Each day at camp is packed with activities that include interesting workshops, time outdoors, art, campfires, new friends and big dreams. Campers spend their days in workshops that range from belly dancing, songwriting, self-defense, clowning, entrepreneurship, mask-making and beyond. Girls are also encouraged to spend their free time in the supervised swimming holes of the beautiful Mattole River, adjacent to camp, and doing arts and crafts.

Space is limited, and both camp sessions often fill up early. Registration is first-come-first-served, and North Star Quest staff will assist in arranging carpools to and from camp.

North Star Quest Camp is a DreamMaker program of the Ink People Center for the Arts. Camp tuition is $550 per girl, but no camper is turned away based on lack of ability to pay. Camp applications and scholarship forms are available online at www.northstarquest.org, and at the Ink People Center for the Arts, at 517 Third Street, Suite 36, in Eureka. More information is available by calling (707) 633-4522.
