Headsup, motorists. There are some projects in the Arcata/Eureka area that could cause you grief. Caltrans will be closing several ramps in the Arcata area starting Wednesday. There is a paving project on 101 between Arcata and Eureka which can slow down traffic. Check your routes and plan for delays.

A paving project on Route 101 in Humboldt County from the Eureka Slough Bridge to the Arcata Overhead Bridge has begun, and will continue with nighttime work hours scheduled from 7PM to 7AM, Sunday through Friday. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel, and motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Please watch for bicyclists, and remember to Slow for the Cone Zone.
Beginning Wednesday, August 14 though Tuesday, August 20 during project nighttime work hours, there will be intermittent full ramp closures with restricted access to local roads at Indianola Cutoff, Bayside Road, Route 255/Arcata/Sunny Brea Exit (Exit 713), 14th Street Exit (Exit 714A), and Sunset Avenue Exit (Exit 714/714B). No two consecutive onramps or offramps will be closed at the same time during these intermittent nighttime ramp closures. Motorists will be advised to seek an alternate route.
