Horse racing news site Daily Racing Form reports that an accident occurred at Sunday’s races at the Humboldt County Fair in Ferndale.

One of the event’s more successful jockeys Matt Garcia fell off his horse Madison Shore in the sixth race after his mount bumped into another horse. The jockey walked off the track into the infield, but later CT scans indicated that he suffered a C7 fracture of the spine. He was flown from Redwood Memorial Hospital to Santa Rosa Sunday night.

DRF, also reports that horse Madison Shore “jumped the outer fence and ran back to the barn area, running over one person, who was uninjured.”
