Humboldt Bay Fire Company Press Release:
At 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 24th, four engines and two Chief officers from Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a residential structure fire at 570 Sea Avenue.
Units arriving found a fire in the living room with extension into the attic. The fire was extinguished in approximately thirty minutes. Crews remained on scene for another hour for overhaul and several hours for the investigation.
Fire damage was limited to the front room and attic with smoke and heat damage in the rest of the house.
While the units were committed to the fire coverage was provided by the Arcata Fire Protection District.
No one was home at the time and the fire was reported by a passerby. Had the residence been equipped with a fire alarm system the fire department would have been notified much sooner and damage would have been significantly less.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
