Go to school, fools! From College of the Redwoods:

Electrical power and internet connectivity was restored to the entire College of the Redwoods Eureka campus at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. All afternoon and evening classes scheduled to begin after 2 p.m. will be held.

According to CR Director of Information Technology and Facilities Steven Roper, a power outage for parts of the campus occurred at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28. It was caused by a 12,000-volt power line that burned up. That line was one of the first ones installed on the campus in the mid-1960s near the old Physical Science and Life Science buildings.

“Quite a few morning classes were able to be held in buildings that had power this morning,” said CR Director of Communications and Marketing Paul DeMark. “We did have to cancel most classes that were scheduled between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. while the problem was fixed.

“We appreciate the excellent work of our facilities, information technology and maintenance staff as well as the patience shown by CR students, faculty and staff.”
