Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Press Release:
On 08-06-2013, at approximately 1:00 a.m. a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy contacted a male and female in a 2001 red Ford Ranger pickup truck which was parked in a gravel parking lot in the 300 block of Main Street, Loleta. When the deputy approached the vehicle the male became fidgety and seemed nervous. The deputy asked the male for identification and the man told the deputy he did not have it with him. The deputy asked the man, whom the deputy believed was Jacob Hines, 27 years old from Fortuna, to step from the vehicle after the deputy determined he may have a felony warrant for his arrest. Upon exiting the vehicle the man ran off with the deputy in foot pursuit. The deputy lost sight of Hines as he fled southbound on Eel River Drive. The deputy returned to the vehicle and detained the female, who was identified as Keely Baird, 23 years old from Fortuna, whom the deputy learned was on probation. Additional deputies responded to the area, but were unable to find Hines. Deputies searched the area where Hines was sitting and located a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol on the floorboard. The handgun was loaded with a ten round magazine.
Deputies searched Baird’s wallet and located Hashish in her wallet. Baird was arrested for violation of probation and possession of Hashish. She was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Her bail was set at $100,000.00.
…When the deputy returned to the Sheriff’s Office he viewed a photograph of Jacob Hines and confirmed that was the person who ran from him. Jacob Hines is wanted for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, being a prohibited person from owning a firearm, resisting arrest, providing false information to a police officer and carrying a loaded weapon in a vehicle.
Jacob Hines also has three warrants for his arrest, one for possession of stolen property, one for violating a domestic court order and one for grand theft.
[Deputies are still seeking Jacob Allen Hines, 27 years old from Fortuna. He is further described as a white male adult, 6’ tall, 155 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes.]
