Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On 12-13-2013, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a citizen who reported hearing a woman screaming and gunshots being fired coming from the vicinity of a 3200 Fisher Road, Hydesville. Deputies responded to the area and met with a neighbor who pointed out the residence.

When deputies approached the residence they saw it was surrounded by a six foot tall cyclone fence. The deputies saw a male inside the fenced area and asked him to open the gate to allow them access. The male, identified as Craig Kelley Wilkinson, 53 years old, refused and became belligerent towards the deputies. Deputies explained the nature of the call and again demanded the man to open the gate. The man continued to refuse to open the gate and allow the deputies access. Deputies could see spent casings on the ground outside the residence. Fearing someone could be injured inside the residence deputies climbed over the fence and entered the yard. When the deputies climbed over the fence Wilkinson fled into the residence with deputies pursuing him. Wilkinson tried to slam the front door on the deputies as he entered his home. Deputies entered the home and grabbed the man at which point he resisted their efforts to restrain him. Wilkinson bit one of the deputies on his right forearm as they tried to restrain him. Wilkinson was taken into custody for resisting an executive officer, battery on a police officer and public intoxication.

Deputies located a .45 caliber handgun on the kitchen counter of the residence along with a .45 caliber spent casing outside the home on the driveway. Deputies spoke with Wilkinson’s wife who was at home at the time and confirmed she was uninjured and checked the residence to make sure no one else had been injured.

Wilkinson was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail is set at $50,000.00.
