A crash early Monday has left one young man dead, two young women severely injured, and a second young man facing felony drunk driving charges. (See earlier post here.) The families and the community are grieving.
In the dark after the accident, first responders rushed to provide help to those still alive. Ashley Humphrey was medivacked to UC Davis where she is in critical condition and struggling to stay alive. She has internal injuries and head trauma.
Julia Ralsten was taken to Redwood Memorial Hospital initially, then flown to Santa Rosa, and then, due to the severity of her injuries, flown to Stanford. She has had several surgeries to deal with a multitude of complications including a broken back, a spleen that needed removing, a skull fracture, and a broken arm. She will need more surgeries in the future.
The community rallied and began providing help to the families as needed. Today, fundraising pages have been set up.
In just four hours, a page dedicated to raising money for Ashley Humphrey who was critically injured in an automobile crash on Drake Hill Road early Monday morning has brought in pledges of nearly $5000.
The page has been established in hopes of alleviating the crush of medical bills and expenses family is incurring as they stay by Humphrey’s side.
A page to benefit one of the other victims of the same accident, Julia Ralsten, has just been set up in the last few minutes before this post was published. $500 has already been raised to help with her medical bills and with her family’s expenses.
Thanks, Humboldt. Redheaded Blackbelt and LoCO are proud to be a part of this community.
