At around 12:10 Christmas morning, Santa apparently broke the sound barrier as he raced to stuff all the stockings before tiny tots rose from their beds. Or perhaps some Christmassy fellow blew up something in celebration of the Day of Peace.

LoCO received multiple reports of a “huge boom” in the Fortuna area.

Reader Diane DeMarzi-Crockett who lives near the library in Fortuna called it the largest boom she’d ever heard.

Reader Elizabeth Smith-krause said that she thought the sound might have come from the river bar area.
