Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

On 12-30-13, at approximately 11:50 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a physical fight with shots fired in the 3900 block of Cedar Street, Eureka. California Highway Patrol Officers (C.H.P.) and Eureka Police responded to assist. When the deputies arrived on scene they spoke to witnesses and determined no one was injured. Deputies learned there had been words exchanged between two twenty three year old men and a twenty four year old male victim who was visiting a residence on Cedar Street. The argument occurred outside the Cedar Street residence. After the two twenty three year old men left the area, the victim heard his Chevy Silverado pickup start-up and drive away. The pickup had been parked in the driveway with the keys in it. When victim exited the home he saw his truck drive off. The victim told the deputies he could not see who was driving his truck.

Deputies located the truck, unoccupied, parked at the end Redwood Street, Eureka. The truck had been involved in a collision with another vehicle and a fence. The California Highway Patrol recovered the stolen vehicle and is investigating the hit and run accident. Deputies spoke with witnesses in the area who believed they heard gunshots; however deputies found no evidence indicating shots have been fired. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Original post: Geez. Apparently things got a little cray cray in Cutten last night. LoCO supercontributor and man about town Mark McKenna happened to be on the scene with law enforcement after … something happened and sent in some quick details:

“Crazy shit. Fight. Car crash, possible stolen vehicle with possible bullet holes in the windshield. Reports of shots fired. All in sleepy little Cutten.”

Well. More importantly though, our man sent photos. We’ll look into this more when we actually wake up.
