Charles Van Buskirk, Esq., is the Humboldt Co. Deputy Coroner assigned to the body found near the Samoa Dunes on Sunday. Buskirk has some details that can be disclosed to the public. He says the body had “been in the water for weeks.” It was found in the surfline and had to be removed further inland to make sure that it wouldn’t get pulled out again by the tide before the coroner could get to the body site.
The male body found was nude but, Buskirk explained that the surf often removes clothing. He also noted that there are “at least three male missing persons with similar statures.”
At this time, no cause of death has been determined. An autopsy is scheduled for today, Tuesday, February 12th. LoCO should have more information in the afternoon on Wednesday.
